The Story of “The Double Barrel”

Around 2010, three friends, Eddie, Red, and Ricky, got together with a vision to build a restaurant, a burger joint which they called The Double R. The restaurant is located 18 miles west of Watertown on Highway 212 in a small town called Henry, the heart of Glacier Lakes fishing country with some of the best ice fishing, water fowl hunting and pheasant hunting in the area. In approximately 2012, an additional room was added to allow for gatherings and parties of up 50 people, which is now known, as the Back Room. In 2014, the restaurant changed ownership to become The Double Barrel Steakhouse. In the years that followed, a few owners and managers have come and gone, and now the sole owner and manager is Cornie.

The Double Barrel serves a wide variety of food and is known for their great steaks and burgers, including sandwiches, appetizers and side, and of course for their prime rib (currently served on Fridays only). Many customers comment on the large salad bar with a variety of salads (some homemade) and condiments. (Checkout our menu page).

The Double Barrel is a place for everyone to enjoy a day or evening, not just the locals that frequent the bar, but also many fisherman, hunters and travelers. It’s a great place to get together with family and friends for lunch or supper, a few cocktails and refreshments, laughter, time together and to make memories.

When you step into the front door of the Double Barrel, in the entryway, you will see pictures showing many groups of hunters and fisherman and their experiences with stories and memories that will always be remembered by their visit to our area. As you walk into the restaurant, the walls are covered with pine box car siding throughout to give you the cabin/log house feeling with a variety of beer signs from far and wide. The ambiance is filled with mounts from all over, of bear, elk, red stag (from New Zealand) mountain lion, bison, several varieties of deer, and fish, most of them belonging to locals in the area. You will also spot several old guns, along with a one-of-a-kind Crown Royal collection.

The Double Barrel offers seating for up to 100 patrons. The restaurant also has a small casino room with an ATM machine, large variety of tap, bottle and canned beer, mixed drinks and wine, including locally brewed Glacial Lakes Distillery.

The Double Barrel also offers a front patio with a few tables for patrons to enjoy their food or drinks outside – weather permitting.

Throughout the year, there are many activities in the small town of Henry, one of the best attractions is the St. Patrick’s Day parade. It will be an experience you will never forget.

Henry, with a population of around 250, includes the Henry school, Pepper Slough Lodge, post office, bank, elevator, and we can’t forget about Miss Kitty’s.
